The Two Keys to Success With Affiliate Marketing

Obviously the two keys to your success with affiliate marketing are Traffic and Conversions.

Traffic is the number one key.

Getting people to your affiliate website is everything. If people never see your affiliates website, then they cannot buy the product you are promoting. There are people "out there" who will buy. You simply must find them. That is your role as an affiliate marketer. That is the key to your success as an affiliate marketer.

The following are the most used methods for generating traffic to your affiliate sites. In later articles we will go into more depth on each:

• Use paid advertisements - either paid ads or pay per click such as AdWords
• Use free ads like US Free Ads.
• Write and post articles about your product.
• Join and post in forums that cater to your specific niche.
• Search Engine Optimization- Use good keywords, tags, and back links to get good placement with search engines.

When you get to the point that you have a lot of traffic, you have won half the battle with affiliate marketing.

Now you must look at key number two: conversions.

Are you making any sales to your traffic?
If a few of your visitors are purchasing, you can assume that your advertising is probably targeted to the right people. Your next move is to tweak your sales page until it converts more of your traffic into buyers. You may have to make several changes before you see maximum conversions.

You may need to make changes to the physical look of your page including color, graphics, font size and color. Or you may need to relocate you opt in box on the page, or even add another box. A good idea is to visit the pages of successful campaigners and copy their style. Just keep your content original. It is vitally important to track your stats so you can see the results of each tweak.

If, on the other hand, you have lots of traffic but no conversions, you may be targeting the wrong group of people. You may have to tweak or change your ads to target a different kind of person. You need to target people who are looking for your product. For every product, there is an ideal marketplace- (people who want that product). To be a successful affiliate marketer, you must bring the two together.

To recap, place your advertisement in front of the people who are specifically looking for or needing our product. As you begin to receive traffic, tweak your sales approach until you are converting a maximum amount of traffic to buyers. Get traffic. Convert the traffic.
