Tendonitis - Tendinitis

The term tendonitis means inflammation of the tendon and is caused by repetitive stress on the tendon. A tendon is a type of connective tissue, a thick cord, which connects muscle to bone. Tendonitis, also spelled Tendinitis, is an inflammation or irritation of a tendon. Seek the medical help of a doctor if you suspect tendonitis. Your doctor will advise treatment and refer you to a physical or occupational therapist for proper exercise to help your tendon heal. Aging can be a cause of tendonitis because as we age, the tissues of the tendon can degenerate. Poor circulation and blood flow to the tendon can cause pain and problems.
